Historical

The Floral Show House was created 1894 due to the fact that there were only two small wooden framed greenhouses that were created within the Queen Victoria Park, which were used as a source for annual flowers to grow and was also used for the production of a tropical exhibition of plant material. This made it very difficult to grow and tend for tropical or native flowers within the Niagara region. It then became a requirement to construct a proper greenhouse for the display of tropical flowers in Niagara Falls and to also make a construction, which allowed winter flowers to properly bloom throughout the seasons. This is why the Niagara Parks Commissions has created The Floral Show House. The Floral Show House is designed to allow as much natural light into the show house to keep flowers nutritious and to enhance the development of new seeds. The show house is also essential in keeping the temperature warm through winter months to avoid flowers dying. Today, the Niagara parks Commissions greenhouses such as The Floral Show house, provides approximately 175,000 annual and perennial plants.

Ecological

The Floral Show House is an area that is a climate controlled environment with over 70 free flying tropical birds, exotic plants, and running water fountains thought out the show house.
