General Information

Set above the Sixteen Mile Creek, with a nature trail winding its way down from the grounds, Creekside Estate Winery has been carefully crafting wines that reflect the uniqueness of the region. Owners Peter Jensen and Laura McCain-Jensen, (yes, of McCain Foods), acquired a 15 acre vineyard and cottage winery facility near Jordan in 1998. Their vision was of a winery devoted to producing premium VQA wines exclusively from the Niagara Peninsula. Since then a state-of-the-art production facility and a showpiece underground barrel cellar has been built. New additions are always steered toward producing wines of uncompromising quality. Winemaker Rob Power and assistant winemaker Yvonne Irvine work together, with a shared love of the job, ensuring high quality standards are met.

During the early 2000's Creekside was faced with increasing demands, in order to meet these, owners purchased another 50 acres of vineyards, located on the St. Davids Bench, expanding their production. New grape varieties were planted, allowing Creekside to further diversify the varietals of vintages they have to offer. The winery is well known for taking risks through working with varietals that have proven to be tricky to produce within the climate of Niagara Region, including Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz, with great success. Their unconventional wine producing practices have proven to be a success with continued production of varietals sensitive to this region over the years. The winery was recently able to produce a small batch of Icewine from their Shiraz harvest, a particularly difficult to manage, warm climate, thin skinned grape. The varieties mentioned are only a small sample of phenomenal vintages Creekside has to offer.

Creekside provides guests with a range of options for touring the estate. During summer months (May-October) public tours are offered daily at 2pm. Alternatively private tours can be booked in advance, with choices of either an estate tour, a reserve tour, a foodie tour and the truly unique segway tour- that's right, Creekside provides the option of touring the grounds via segway. Further details on what each tour has to offer, as well as prices can be found here: http://www.creeksidewine.com/visit.php
