The tour will cover key battles of the War of 1812 in Niagara. It traces the route of American invasion of the Niagara region, beginning October 13th 1812 with the battle of Queenston heights.The Tour will cover a number of historical forts and battlefields, beginning with Fort Niagara in Buffalo and ending with Old Fort Erie. The tour is intended to cover the major battles within the Niagara region and to highlight lesser known elements of the War of 1812. The ideal tour route will be largely chronological, and will follow the course of the American invasion. This will likely require an automobile, as the sites are too broadly spaced out to realistically visit all of the sites through other modes of travel.
In addition, the first stop of the tour, Fort Niagara, requires crossing the border into the United States. For those who do not wish to cross the border, an alternate stop will be provided with a viewpoint of Fort Niagara, which can be visited as an alternate POI location.
