General Description

The former site of the Lundy's Lane battlefield has been largely converted into Niagara Falls commercial space. The current site consists of a small park and cemetery, along with a monument, with a number of plaques interpreting the site. The Lundy's Lane Hotel Museum is open in the Summer, and on weekends in the fall. Graveyard tours are also available in October. Lundy's Lane is located in the heart of Niagara falls, Ontario, and is an ideal midway point for a tour.

Historical Attributes

The Battle of Lundy's lane happened after the capture of Queenston, Fort George, and Fort Erie, on 25 July 1814. By this time, the Americans controlled most of the Niagara Peninsula. It was the bloodiest battles of the war, with the Americans losing a massive number of troops. With fresh British reinforcements arriving from the Napoleonic front, the Americans retreated to Fort Erie.
