Welcome to Stage Five of the Laura Secord Legacy Trail. Stage Five runs from here at Rotary Park to Decew House, for a distance of about 4 and a half kilometres, or approximately one and a quarter hours, for the average walker.

On this section of the trail we'll continue sharing with you First Nations culture and perspectives.

Stage Five begins immediately in front of the Rotary International monument.

We call this section of the trail, 'Divided Loyalties'.

Historically, the need to choose sides between warring colonial forces, often caused native people to find themselves allied against their own relatives.

As you travel the trail, our hosts will address the complex relationships amongst native people, later settlers, colonial authorities and governments, and contemporary society.

Many of these tensions are, of course, still unresolved, and pose the greatest challenge - and opportunity - to those who seek truth and reconciliation.
