Fort George - Beyond the Gates



 


 


 


 

Explore the history of Niagara-on-the-Lake beyond Fort George with this immersive, interactive tour, which takes you from the earliest days of British settlement to the final days of the First World War. Beginning outside of Fort George, and culminating at the fort which eventually replaced it, this tour examines the military and political history of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Totalling less than three kilometres, this tour can be completed on foot, bicycle, or by car. The points included in this tour (in order) are:

- Camp Kościuszko

- Navy Hall

- Joseph Willcocks and the Canadian Volunteers

- The Coloured Corps

- Point Mississauga Lighthouse & Fort Mississauga

This tour is entirely outdoors, and none of the points require paid entry. Exercise caution while taking the tour, and be sure to pay attention to traffic and roadway/walkway conditions.
