Introduction

Think again, is traveling to the Sriracha-Pattaya Tiger Zoo a trip you want to take when you consider, the containment of animals, and the abuse of animals in the entertainment industry and the effects of contributing to such a cause?

General Information

Projected as a tourist haven for exotic animal shows and entertainment travelling to the Pattaya- Sriracha Tiger Zoo is a trip where you will be guaranteed to see amazing animals such as tigers, crocodiles, elephants. You can interact with the animals for extra costs, such as photos with tigers and crocodiles, feeding tiger cubs and elephant rides. The zoo prides itself on its ability to foster the endangered Royal Bengal Tigers through its breeding program. As wild and exotic as this attraction may seem, there is another side to consider aside from the glamorous shows and bustling crowds. There is much controversy on the use of animals for entertainment in Thailand and across the world. The Zoo, to an ignorant visitor, can be seen as the euphoric place the website promotes, where you can interaction with the animals and the view shows. To anyone who does has not peeled back the layers of animals in entertainment will be in awe watching a tiger jump through a fire ring. Yet to anyone who is watching, the animals are clearly abused, many times during the show the tigers are struck with a cane when they do not cooperate. It is not hard to see there is something very wrong with containing animals for entertainment purposes, there are many coerce and torturous training methods at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo. The tigers are routinely de-clawed and drugged while trained with intimidative practices to perform. If you decided to travel to one of the "Must see" destinations the Sriracha-Pattaya Tiger Zoo consider what you are influencing, where you spend your money and to what you are encouraging.

Personal Experience:

On traveling there I quickly became quiet uncomfortable, the zoo demonstrated clear neglect and abuse to many of its animals and staff. The petting zoo area, where you pay to feed animals such as goats, bunnies, deer, lama's, pigs and camels was left unattended with animals that looked starved climbing on top of each other to eat the food sold to tourist to feed the animals. A short walk around the corner to see the sows and tigers, you stumble upon disturbing sites of the only African attendants I saw in cages with chained tigers dressed in Tarzan costumes. As well as full grown pigs on their sides contained in a small cage apart from tiger cubs that they are meant to feed. The zoo does not provide much information on why this is happening, beside the face that it encourages less aggressive tigers but from my experience I found it just attracts a crowd. I left feeling ashamed and disturbed at the cruelty in this park.
