Scanlon Creek Conservation Area is a 300-hectare park that features many hiking trails, bird watching spots, and lookout points. There are a total of six trails that will navigate visitors through various elevations and geographical terrains. These trails offer a variety of difficulty hiking levels that cater to both families and individuals. If hikers can make it down the escarpment, there is also a gentle creek that runs through the area providing soft sounds of running water. Educational opportunities and fun recreational time are also abundant through various signs and structures throughout the trails, making your hike more engaging.
Scanlon Creek was named after a mill owner named Mark Scanlon in 1824. He operated six mills using the running water from the creek and used it to support the Irish settlement in which he lived in. In the 1970's, the park was developed and is now continually used by thousands of residents from surrounding areas.
