Dufferin Islands is a small nature park that consists of several tiny islands. Visitors here can roam the relaxing nature trails and discover endless amounts of wildlife while this location is known for its seclusion and calming atmosphere.
Dufferin Islands takes part in Niagara's yearly Winter Festival of Lights. Visitors can take part in this festival by driving through Dufferin Islands anytime after dusk during November and December. Donations are taken at the end but not are mandatory.
Dufferin Islands is 10 acres of self-guided nature paths. All of the islands are small and connected by wooden bridges, some home to picnic barbecues as well. These islands are very rich in surprising wildlife for visitors to observe in their natural habitats.
Above is pictured a large flock of Canadian geese and native mallards/ducks that people often bring food to feed them. This is why there is such a large amount together in one small area. The geese do get a bit aggressive sometimes.
Importance Within NPC
The four islands at this location are important to the Niagara Parks Commission because they allow visitors to explore the local ecosystems as well while interacting with the wildlife up close and personally. This place is one of the most peaceful in the NPC puzzle because it allows visitors to relax and take a peaceful walk without the difficulty of actually hiking. The outdoor barbecue spaces also allow visitors to sit and relax and enjoy some food with their friends and family as well. Dufferin Islands is a great place to bring people together in nature.
