Journey Behind the Falls is a self guided tour where visitors will find themselves in underground tunnels of bedrock right behind the Horseshoe Falls. These tunnels are cut right to the waterfall and visitors can also explore an outdoor platform that takes them right beside the falls for an up close and personal view of the rushing water.
This location also features a gift shop.
This location offers visitors a self-guided tour down a 125 foot descent into 130 year old tunnels that explore behind the Horseshoe Falls with several openings that cut straight through the bedrock so visitors can see out from behind the water first-hand. This location also offers an observation deck right beside the falls for a once in a lifetime view.

Importance Within NPC
The first version of Journey Behind the Falls was constructed in 1818 and has continued to be updated throughout the years. The tunnels have needed upgrades over time as the actual waterfall slowly erodes the rock faces behind it back little by little each year. In 1994 the name changed from Scenic Tunnels to Journey Behind the Falls. The historical significance of this location is important to the Niagara Parks Commission because it offers the absolute closest experience to the Horseshoe Falls from behind and has brought visitors in for just over 200 years to share the experiences it offers.
