The Niagara Glen upper grounds feature a nature centre for visitors to learn about the environment and wildlife around them. Once visitors descend the staircase, they will be greeted with rocky hiking trails that lead down to the Niagara Gorge and Niagara Whirlpool below which hold stunning views and a beautiful environment.
The Niagara Glen contains a picnic area and pavilion along with viewing areas before descending into the hiking trails. Located here is also the Nature Centre which allows small displays and information from workers on the surrounding environment.
The Niagara Glen consists of stairways that lead 4km down into the Niagara Gorge along hiking paths and trails. These trails are located inside Carolinian forest and overlook the rapids of the Niagara River and the Niagara Whirlpool. Every trail is labeled with markers and all but one are frequent spots for casual hikers. There is one difficult trail that leads from the Niagara Glen all the way to the Whirlpool which is usually used by andvanced hikers only. This location features an endless amount of native plants and wildlife to see.
A small toad native to Ontario that was found on our hike hoping along the cliff walls. His patterns allow him to blend in well with his rocky environment.
