The Hespeler library located on 5 Tannery Street East is one of the more storied buildings in Hespeler. About 10 years ago the building was vandalized by a stone and it broke a window into the library. As a way of showing rebuilding, the library kept the inner brick building but built glass around it to represent that the vandal did not do the damage that they thought they would. Ever since the building has been encased in strong glass and it allows the public to see in from the outside and makes the building appear more inviting. I think this story represents the importance and value of this site, that a place of knowledge and learning can teach us a lesson and ask us to learn ourselves. This building now serves as a symbol for people of all ages to learn and study and often provides guest speakers for children to learn from, sometimes teaching essential skills or just telling a good story. The library is a welcoming place for everyone.

The Hespeler library is the place for learning and education for people of all ages. With that idea they have looked to make the library a place where anyone can visit to learn no matter what their experiences. This means the library is highly accessible with elevators and ramps to help moments within the two story building. Staff are able to get any book for you so the shelf is never a problem. This allows focus to be on books and their information and not on the hurdles to get to it.
