General Description

Kenzo provides a new ramen experience with its different and delicious flavors.

University can be a financially straining and unhealthy time that often leads students to rely on eating cheap packaged ramen noodles for meals. At Kenzo, students are able to enjoy real gourmet noodles, straying away from store-bought packaged noodles. This cuisine is an illustration of food that is familiar, yet has flavors that are fresh and new. Kenzo cooks their noodles fresh every day.

Kenzo is a sit-down restaurant where students can come in and enjoy a nice lunch meal together. It is the perfect opportunity for students to bond, and create memories while eating some freshly made and delicious ramen. The overall aesthetic of the restaurant is like a traditional Japanese restaurant, and its vast ramen menu creates a unique dining experience. However, Kenzo does not only sell ramen - they also sell other characteristic Japanese dishes such as katsudon and onigiri.

Historical Attributes

Ramen dishes and the culture behind them have interesting historical roots. Ramen is a popular dish in Japan, but historically, ramen goes back to China. During the conclusion of the Japan-China Amenity treaty, many Chinese people moved to Japan where they introduced ramen to Japan.

Kenzo initially started in Japan, but did not see international business until Daniel and Jane Park decided to open a restaurant in Toronto in 2002.

Due to oversaturation of the market by many sushi restaurants, Daniel and Jane Park decided to create an authentic ramen business. After years of training, they opened their restaurant in 2002 at 6180 Young Street, Toronto. For a time, Kenzo became a popular spot among Toronto citizens. After their initial success in Toronto, Daniel and Jane were able to open more restaurants in the city in 2005. After various openings in many places in Ontario, Kenzo finally opened in St. Catharines in 2014.
