The first G. Tamblyn Drug Store opened on Queen Street in 1936. W.E. Beckett was the manager, and the store featured delivery service. It was a mainstay of the downtown area for 30 years. By 1966, another Tamblyn Drug Store opened on Lundy's Lane, and the Queen Street shop closed shortly afterwards.
RBC Financial expanded from the original Royal Bank of Canada building to occupy both the former Tamblyn site and the original bank building beside it. The front of the building was modernized into a 5 arch concrete facade.
In 2020, the RBC Financial outlet closed.
In 2022, a new Canadian startup sports equipment company, WaveX, opened its storefront in the former RBC Financial building, painting the facade black and stocking the shop with their collection of designer paddleboards and watersports equipment.
