Coronation Park is a well-loved and much-used green space in the heart of Grimsby, shielded by trees to serve as a community outdoor area with the public pool in the summertime. Many summer day camps are also held here, as well as local concerts and meetings. The park also features a few small plaques that describe some pieces of the town's historical people and moments. Primary parking can be found off Main St, in the Food Basics parking lot.
The park includes a brick walking trail, grassy fields for playing or picnicking, a sheltered gazebo, and indoor changing facilities for the outdoor Lions Community Pool.
Coronation Park has gone through several stages during Canada's beginnings, starting as the site of the country's first canning factory and later our first basket factory. The Cross family started the Carpenter Basket Factory around 1880, and it burned down in a fire on April 11, 1896. Later, in 1953, the land was officially designated as a park in order to have community access to the Forty Mile Creek as the town was beginning to become more populated and built-up.
The area was once the same forest that still covers the Escarpment, but only traces of that remain. The area is now a grassy field with many planted trees and pushes, through some older trees still remain on the edges of the property.
The area is owned and managed by the Town of Grimsby.

The park is very flat, with almost no inclines of any kind, and the brick path is very well-maintained. More direct parking for those who have accessibility concerns can be found by the Lions pool, off Elm St.
