The Niagara Pumphouse is a community not-for-profit charity organization that uses visual arts to enrich their community.
They often have an exhibition that is open to visit and they also offer workshops to the community. The building is in a beautiful location and it is nice to spend some time on the grounds.
The building was formerly a pumphouse which supplied water and electricity to the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake for many years.

The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre was originally built in 1891 where it was a pumping station that supplied water to the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake for almost a century. At one time, it also housed steam-powered pumps that supplied electricity to the town until the end of World War I. In 1983, the pumphouse stopped producing water but it was bought by the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and deemed historically significant. Around the same time, three local artists started a plan to transform the historic pumphouse into an art centre. In the early 1990s, renovations were completed to allow the newly formed Pumphouse Art Centre Association to offer professional art and craft instruction and become a centre for public art. Though all of the pumps have been removed, there is one that has been restored and remains outside of the building with a plaque acknowledging its history.
