Entryway to the Botanical Gardens

Circa 1863, Thomas Rodman Merritt hired a gardener by the name of Samuel Richardson to develop the surrounding landscape. While the family was still living there, an orchard, a greenhouse, a kitchen garden, exotic trees and terraced gardens could be found on the grounds.

Though much of this no longer exists today, what remains is a portion of the gardens that contains a variety of exotic trees and plants. There is a lovely walking path that leads through the garden which goes all the way down to the Twelve Mile Creek. There is also an outdoor amphitheatre along the way.
