In 1947, a congregation met at the Odd Fellows Hall on Main Street, calling their church The Gospel Auditorium. They eventually purchased land on Summer Street, and by 1953, the Church of the Redeemer had opened.
The building was sold to the City of Niagara Falls, and was in use as the Coronation Centre for seniors until late 2021. The Redeemer congregation held services in various other locations until they built their the Redeemer Bible Church on Montrose Road.
In fall 2021, Niagara Falls politicians decided to shift Coronation Centre older adult programming to the MacBain Community Centre (the building at 7150 Montrose Rd, Niagara Falls, ON L2H 3N3), which was left with a large vacancy when the YMCA of Niagara opted to close its branch at MacBain.
As of early 2024, the long term fate of the Coronation Centre building remained undecided.
