The story of Ablan is one of continued success, even into the 21st century. A Lebanese immigrant to the Niagara region, Ablan was able to open his own dry goods store in 1909. Initially, the store was an integral part of the community. However, upon learning of the markup value on mattresses, Ablan immediately shifted into the furniture industry. It wasn't until after his death, however, that the company expanded its original location, ultimately building several new stores across southwestern Ontario. As the company only began to rise in success, they began branching out into various different locations across Canada, cementing the company as one of Canada's homegrown darlings.
