General Description

The Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation is nestled within the Twenty Valley. It was designed and built to have a minimal impact on the environment and use limited natural resources. This award winning LEED Gold certified facility features permanent and temporary galleries which run throughout each season of the year.

The permanent galleries discuss nature, conservation, and culture with its direct impact to the Niagara Escarpment and watershed, with temporary galleries providing more detailed information regarding specific monthly topics. Past topics include information regarding the Niagara watershed, frogs and the wildlife .

Recreational Features

Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation has facilities that allow passive recreation. The galleries and exhibitions allow families to learn more about the Niagara escarpment in the watershed. Information placed around the facility allows, visitors to learn more about plants and animals and the biosphere reserves found within the escarpment. Within the the facility's permanent galleries you can learn more about the habitats in the area and the plants and animals that reside within them.

The Centre for conservation is also able to provide information regarding the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation watershed and properties, as well as information regarding the buildings on Conservation Area property.


Ecological Attributes

The Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation the facility has been built to have a limited ecological impact. The facility was designed specifically for the Ball's Falls area and to have a limited impact on surrounding environment. It was awarded the LEED Gold certificate. LEED Certification provides an independent third-party verification that buildings within the community are designed and built using strategies aimed to achieve high performance and environmental health.
