General Description

The Summit Overlook is the one of the highest points in the city of St. Catharine's. The overlook has a calming presence associated with as leading up to it is a nice trail which is quiet and surrounding with nothing but trees, shrubs, birds and many other natural features. The overlook itself allows an area of rest and mediation needed to reflect on life, or simply enjoy the views. Far too often people don't take the time to stop and appreciate what is around them and the summit overlook is the perfect opportunity for one to do that.

Recreational Features

The Summit overlook is located along the Glenridge Quarry Naturalization site which is home to many paths and trails. Specifically the overlook is an opportunity to challenge themselves with an elevated hill where one can walk, run, or even bring their dog.

Historical Attributes

The Summit Overlook is located along the Glenridge Quarry Naturalization Site. The Glenridge Quarry Naturalization Site operated as a municipal landfill site from 1976 to 2001. In the 1990s it was decided that a naturalization site with a trail system would replace the landfill once it closed on Jan. 1, 2002.

Accessibility

The area was designed to be accessible to everyone, including those with mobility difficulty however from personal experience this was not the case. Unfortunately in order to get to Summit Overlook the path is made up of loose gravel which deems the area not accessible by wheelchair. Furthermore, the path is quite steep as the overlook is fairly high up which may cause some problems with those who have mobility difficulty.
