Introduction and History

John Dempsey came to St. Catharines in 1934, after his parents passed away. His father was a foot-maker and John enjoyed sports in particular soccer. During the days of John Dempsey everyone knew him for his love of sports. Even though John was a small man he was about 5 feet he didn't let anything stop him.

St. Catharines remembers John Dempsey by honouring him with naming a park in the city after him.

General Information

John Dempsey is a park located in the Merrittion Ward which covers covers 3.2 Hectares.

John Dempsey is known to be one of the busiest parks in the city, being located close to many family homes.

This park contains two baseball diamonds and one soccer field which is located on top of a hill located on the park.
