Traveling from the Welland Canals Center, participants will be venturing on a pleasant trail while enjoying the scenery of the Welland Ship Canal. As they progress closer towards the township of Thorold, they will come across the trio of Locks that are stood in quick succession of one another. The trail has various places where a striking photo opportunity is present. Multiple benches are found along the pathway, and areas where vehicles may be parked for individuals that don't wish to walk the whole trail.
Administration of the system is shared by two entities, the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. in the U.S., a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation, and The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation in Canada, a not-for-profit corporation (ownership of the Canadian portion of the Seaway remains with the Canadian federal government.)
A walking and biking path is available for those that wish to visit the Lock as well as a road for driving.
