Then: Maple Street School

Maple Street School was built in 1914 on Maple Street to serve the rapidly growing population in the area west of Victoria Ave. By 1924, the school was again so overcrowded that ten additional classrooms were opened in the Orange Hall on Victoria Avenue.

Maple Street School was enlarged to 16 rooms and became the one of largest public schools in the region with a peak enrolment of 700 students. A library and gymnasium were added, and existing classrooms were converted into rooms for Industrial Arts, Home Economics, Art and Music.

Now: Maple Street Park

The School was torn down in 1999 and replaced with Maple Street Park which includes a walking path, playground and an outdoor ice rink which makes it an ideal place to bring children during the cooler months of the year.
