JH 11 Speakeasy Club 48 Margaret Street

Track Records launch party, Speakeasy Club, London - 16 March 1967

The Speakeasy Club was located on your right, at 48 Margaret Street.

Jimi Hendrix performed here on a number of occasions, and never failed to impress his audiences...and more importantly, he impressed his fellow musicians.

People like Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Jeff Beck were looking at Hendrix through a different lens, as the most amazing guitar player they'd ever seen. Most of the people in that scene were enamoured with US R'n'B and blues, and here was a guy that had helped sell those records. He was seen as the authentic deal. (Picture: EMP Museum).

Now continue walking east along Margaret Street all the way to Great Titchfield Street, a distance of about 140 metres.
