Firefighting has come a long way in Niagara Falls since the 1880s. In the early days, there were just a few independent companies with hand and horse-drawn wagons. The first piece of mechanized equipment arrived in 1920 in the form of a pumper that was located at the Main Street Station. Captain Duncan Brown served as the driver. In 1924, two motorized ladder trucks were purchased and the horses were finally retired.

Now: Mamis Variety Store

The Main Street Fire Hall was vacated in 1965. This historic building still stands. In 2020 it was known as Mamis Variety Store.
