Ball's Falls, located in Jordan, Ontario, is a popular tourist attraction owned by the Niagara Peninsula
Conservation Area. Jacob Ball and his family, after being forced out of New York, was granted a large
piece of land because of their ties to the British. Once they started living in the area, the Ball brothers
built several mills and the town began to grow exponentially. In 1852, the land consisted of 19 locals
who had a wide variety of skills including: blacksmithing, tailoring, weaving and butchering.
The reason why Jordan, Ontario was and still is known as a ghost town, is because a lot of people took
off at once during the 1800s. The heritage buildings and mills still in existence are closed now, but the
materials and buildings continue to fade as time passes and winter takes its toll.
Seasonal picnicking, winter activities, hiking, weddings, rentals and birding take place at Balls Falls.
