Phoenix Rising is a store dedicated to non-electronic gaming, focusing on things such as Magic The Gathering, Game Workshops, Warhammer, Bolt Action, and Dungeons and Dragons. They allow for the purchasing of boardgames, game miniatures, trading cards, and other miscellaneous products, as well as running a whole variety of sessions for playing many of the games listed prior. Phoenix Risings focus on the more complex and strategy-heavy games like Warhammer and Bolt Action set them apart from other stores. It acts as a great place for a community of people to come together and have fun, with the addition of workshops allowing people to see the more creative artistic side of tabletop games where players can paint and craft their characters, maps and props to be used in games later on. This aspect of customizing and painting your pieces is something unique to these types of games, and has been a longtime practice among its players.
Phoenix Rising offers many products and services, primarily selling board games, game miniatures, paints, Magic The Gathering cards and accessories, and finally some books and magazines pertaining to the Warhammer series. In regards to services, the store also also guests and customers to use the back of the store to run game sessions for Dungeons & Dragons, Magic The Gathering, Warhammer and any other games they would like to play or try out. The back space can also be used for crafting and painting miniatures for Warhammer or Dungeons & Dragons, with a courteous staff and plenty of space.
Originally founded by Brian Dugdale in 1994, Phoenix Rising was aimed towards players interested in the Bolt Action series and other more historically oriented tabletop games. In the early 2000s, the store also used several computer setups for hosting LAN matches with its customers. It was also located in the basement of a place called Rams before moving to its current location.
Now the store is owned by Jason Hunter, although Brian reportedly still stops by often. Its focus has shifted to encompass a number of tabletop and trading card games, and continues to welcome its guests and avid players as it did years ago.
Its new location is also a part of the Niagara Historic Architecture Tours for being 'a turn of the century' location, according to staff.
Originally founded by Brian Dugdale, the store is now owned by Jason Hunter.

Unfortunately, the store is not easily wheelchair accessible as the front door is immediately met with a brick step. The store is equipped with a portable ramp that can be brought out to accommodate those who require one however. For those with sensory issues, it should be noted that the store can get quite loud when tournaments are under way, but during normal operating times the atmosphere is rather quiet and mute, and the space is open and easy to move around.
