Mostly Comics, originally known as Len's Odds and Ends, has been in operation since March 1981, when Len Booth decided to open a Science Fiction themed bookstore. Len Booth's store initially featured a rack of used comic books, and he started selling new comics in 1982. In July 2000, Booth sold his Science Fiction bookstore to Kim and Cheryl Stevens. Kim Steven, a longtime resident of St. Catharines, was not new to the store; he was in fact one of Len Booth's first and most loyal customers.
The store still remains at 413 St. Paul Street, the exact location at which the very first Len's Odds and Ends began operation more than three decades ago - but the theme of the bookstore has changed. Kim and Cheryl Stevens renamed the store as Mostly Comics and made tremendous changes to the store's inventory. From the original meagre single rack of comics, the store is now almost entirely devoted to comics, as reflected in the store's re-branding to Mostly Comics. In addition to comic books of all genres and descriptions, the store also sells comic-related products and apparel, graphic novels, and Anime products. Comics enthusiasts can find movie, tv and music action figurines and apparel as well as board games.
In June 2011, Mostly Comics flooded when an old water main in St. Paul Street burst open. Thousands and thousands of comics and other inventory in the basement were destroyed by the water. The store at 413 St. Paul St. was in dire straits.
After losing much inventory and having to make substantial structural repairs to the store due to the water damage, Kim and Cheryl Stevens made some major renovations in October 2013. Now, the store has a new look, sporting theme colours from Kim's very own favourite comic character, 'The Incredible Hulk'.
