Twenty Valley

General Information

The floodplain terraces are subject to seasonal flooding, supporting the ANSI's only examples of Red Ash Forest and a large rich Sycamore- White Ash- White Elm Forest ( a forest restricted to the Carolinian life zone). The Carolinian flora is common in this area. Rich forests of Sugar Maple, Red Elm and Black Maples are located in the higher bottomlands.

Directions

The Twenty Valley includes the bottomlands and slopes of the Twenty Mile Creek on the lake plain. Starting at the north-end of the valley which is Jordan Harbour at the QEW by the "pirate ship", the creek valley follows a south west path cutting through the Niagara Escarpment to Ball's Falls Conservation Area.

From Ball's Falls you can either drive or hike along the creek, through the valley.

Hiking south on the Cataract Trail will connect you with the Bruce Trail and the Twenty Valley Trail which ends in a municipal parking lot by Jordan Valley Campground.

he best route to follow if you are not in a canoe, is to hike or drive along Twenty First Street south to Ball's Falls.
