General Information

Stevensville Conservation Area is an ideal location for a family outing.There is free parking as well as a covered picnic area near the beginning of the trails for visitor use. There are many marked trails within the conservation area of varying lengths. Stevensville Conservation Area has a meandering Black Creek, forty-nine hectares of wooded and wetland area as well as a pond. The pond provides families the opportunity to take part in light activities such as walking, fishing, waterfowl viewing, and nature appreciation in a pituresque setting. The trail system at Stevensville ranges from passive around the pond to slightly more chellening through the forested areas.

Stevensville Conservation Area is located in the Town of Fort Erie. As visitors enter the site they are greeted by the Clubhouse for the Fort Erie Conservation Club which actively aids in the ongoing conservation efforts for this area.

Directions

From Toronto:

1. Head south on Bay Street toward Albert Street

2. Turn right to stay on Bay Street

3. Turn right onto Lake Shore Boulevard West

4. Slight right towards Gardiner Expressway West

5. Take the Gardiner Expressway West ramp

6. Merge onto the Gardiner Expressway West

7. Continue onto Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW)

8. Merge into Queen Elizabeth Way/On-403 West

9. Keep left to continue on Queen Elizabeth Way, following signs for Niagara/East Hamilton/Fort Erie

10. Take exit 16 for Sodom Road West/ Regional Road 116 West toward Ridgeway/Crystal Beach

11. Merge onto Sodom Road/Regional Road 116, continue to follow Regional Road 116

12. Turn right (east) onto West Main Street

13. Take the first right (north) onto Ott Road

Destination will be on the left.

From Niagara:

1. Head north on Stanley Avenue towards Spring Street

2. Turn left (west) onto ON-420 West

3. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW)/Fort Erie and merge onto QEW

4. Take exit 16 for Sodom Road West/ Regional Road 116 West toward Ridgeway/Crystal Beach

5. Merge onto Sodom Road/Regional Road 116, continue to follow Regional Road 116

6. Turn right (east) onto West Main Street

7. Take the first right (north) onto Ott Road

Destination will be on the left.

Historical

The Fort Erie Conservation Club was established in 1983. Since then, the club has been an integral part of the conservation efforts at Stevensville Conservation Area and throughtout Niagara. The club has many achievements to date and continues to be an important source of environmental stewardship in the Niagara Region.

Ecological

Stevensville Conservation Area contains many diverse species of flora and fauna. The pond creates an ideal habitat for waterfowl, amphibians and many other birds and mammal species. The forest at Stevensville is a mix of both deciduous and coniferous tree species.
