As well as its main Upper and Lower Falls, DeCew has a lesser known falls that is worth a visit. Faucet Falls is a small plunge falls which unlike other falls in the area is artificial. Having been created for the DeCew Falls Generating Station, small holes have been constructed into the side of the gorge, with the drained water causing a waterfall.
Faucet Falls can be viewed over the crest of Upper DeCew Falls, by Morningstar Mill.
WARNING: The gorge is extremely steep and therefore great caution must be taken. When hiking in the area, be aware that there may be some steep areas. Hike in a pair rather than alone. An accidental fall may result in serious injury or death. Be weary that the area around the falls may be slippery and wet. Also be aware of falling rocks from above.

Waterfalls were formed after the creation of the Niagara Escarpment 450 millions years ago. Sediments from a tropical sea-bed compressed into the rocks limestone and shale. Through progressive glacial action, water flow and the elements, the shale began to weather causing dramatic land formations such as the gorge.
These particular falls are manmade however for the DeCew Hydroelectric Facility. Constructed in 1898, the plant was one of the first of its kind and draws water from Lake Eyrie through the Welland Canal into a storage reservoir in Lake Gibson. It is the oldest operating hydro-electric plant in Niagara.
Hike along the Bruce Trail next to Decew Falls and you may be lucky enough to spot a white tailed deer. Follow the trail westward into Short Hills Provincial Park - a Carolinian forest where more waterfalls can be viewed including Swayze Falls.
Nearby Faucet Falls is the Bruce Trail which is excellent for walking, jogging or hiking. You can also view the other main waterfalls of Upper Decew Falls, Lower DeCew Falls, or visit Morningstar Mill.
