FN 5-18 Warrior Encampment

Mohawk warriors at campfire - Randy Steele randy-steele.artistwebsites.com

As she walked this path Laura could have encountered native warrior hunting parties at any time.

The War of 1812 meant that First Nations were forced into defending their ancestral lands. Promises had been made. And loyalties were strong.

But it also meant taking the side that best suited their interests.

Sometimes, natives were fighting natives.

Laura Secord would not have known who she might encounter along the trail.

And it was around this location that she did indeed stumble upon a warrior encampment.
