This typical mid-19th Century Upper Canada cottage-style home was Laura Secord's. Laura Secord moved here in 1841, after the death of her husband James, and lived here until the time of her death. The home still stands with a memorial plaque placed outside of it in a publicly accessible location.

In front of the Laura Secord House the Village of Chippawa Citizens Committee and the Ontario Heritage Foundation placed a plaque commemorating the life of Laura Secord who lived in the house for the last years of her life.

It reads:

Laura Secord Home

Laura Ingersoll Secord resided at this Chippawa home for 27 years. A heroine of

the War of 1812, Mrs. Secord in the summer of 1813, walked 19 miles through

swamp and bush from Queenston to Decew Falls to warn the British of an

impending American attack. In 1861 the Prince of Wales rewarded her with a gift

of 100 pounds of her bravery. Laura Secord attended Holy Trinity Church. She

died here, October 17, 1868 at the age of 93 and was buried in the Drummond

Hill Cemetery.

Erected in 1996 by the Village of Chippawa Citizens Committee with the assistance of the Ontario Heritage Foundation
