BUCHNER HOUSE

buchner house

Christopher Buchner, buried in the Drummond Hill Cemetery, purchased the land around the peak of Drummond Hill from Forsythe in 1799, Buchner built his "Buchner House" here in 1799.

The original building (which is at the core of the home) was constructed as an Italiante-style building, but it has been added to many times over the decades including extensions and extenuations. Some of these alterations include the second-story dormer and the porch facing "Buchner Place".

The property (bound by Drummond Road, Barker Street, Main Street and Lundy's Lane) is important as it was where the majority of the Battle of Lundy's Lane occurred. The Buchner House, on the property, was extant during the Battle of Lundy's Lane which makes it of particular importance and is a reason for it to be designated as a Heritage Property/building.
