Christopher Buchner Grave Marker

Christopher Buchner, a local farmer, fought in the War of 1812 in both the battles of Chippawa and Lundy's Lane. The Battle of Lundy's Lane took place here, in what is now known as the Drummond Hill Cemetery, but at the time was the Buchner farm. Christopher and his son John survived the Battle of Lundy's Lane and lived to tell the tale of how their farm fences were used to stoke the fire of the funeral pyre built to burn the bodies of the fallen soldiers.

The Buchner home, built in 1799, still stands today at 6172 Buchner Place near the wrought-iron gateway to Drummond Hill Cemetery. The Italianate-style building originally constructed is unrecognisable today.

Christopher Buchner's Grave Marker. Buchner lived adjacent to the Battlefield.

Built by Christopher Buchner in 1799, this home was extant during the Battle of Lundy's Lane.
