High Quality Trails in the Niagara Region - Overview

About This Tour

The rich natural resources of the Niagara region offer tourists and locals alike a variety of opportunities to get in touch with nature. In addition to the famous Niagara Falls, the trails through the forests and along the lakeshore should not be overlooked. It is estimated that there are hundreds of kilometers of trails in the Niagara region for hiking, jogging and biking ("Maps and Trails", n.d.). Indoor places of activity, such as gyms, become less safe during the COVID period. In this case, the outdoors is a good option. This thematic digital tour, entitled "High quality trails in Niagara Region", is intended to inspire people to get out and about in the great outdoors. This prospectus will feature each of the five selected trails in turn, describing the goals of this guide and the timeline of this part of project.

The destinations included in this tour are Woonded Conservation Area, Moodie Lake Trail, Niagara Glen, Dufferin Island Loop Trail and White Water Walk. Links to all destinations can be found below the photos on this page. Enjoy your hiking trip in the great outdoors.

Goals of this tour

This tour emphasizes getting back to nature during the COVID period, showcasing five popular urban fringe hiking trails of Niagara region. Since the beginning of the epidemic, working from home and maintaining a social distance has become the norm, which has led to many restrictions on indoor activities. This tour encourages people to leave the office, breathe in the fresh air and embrace nature while remaining in contact with the natural environment. These trails preserve the natural landscape while also showcasing the social element.

With this tour, tourists will be able to visit War of 1812 sites, lake-side trails, canyon trails, walking trail and wave-watching trails. Most of these trails are close to the Niagara River and offer breathtaking views from all angles while hiking. The trails vary in length and difficulty, so people of all ages and abilities can find a destination that suits them; and the trails are kid and pet-friendly, making them a wonderful choice for a family outing.
