Queen Street Neighbourhood

Historic destinations in this neighbourhood

As the historic centre of municipal government in the city, the Queen Street neighbourhood is one of the best known districts in Niagara Falls. It was also a significant entertainment venue and shopping destination until the rise of the suburban malls and big box retailers in the 1970s and 1980s.

Starting at the southwest intersection of Queen Street and Valley Way, this walking tour will take you past a number of historic businesses and civic buildings along the Queen Street corridor. You'll walk eastward along the south side of Queen Street for six blocks, to Zimmerman Avenue. Then you'll cross over to the north side of Queen Street, and walk west for six blocks, to return to your starting point. On the way, we'll tell you about 20 historic commercial and government buildings that helped to define the neighbourhood over the years, making it a well-known and well-visited destination for generations of Niagara Falls residents.
