The Biggar Lagoons / Grimsby Wetlands area is owned by the Department of National Defence and the Regional Municipality of Niagara. The total area is approximately 10 hectares. A trail and bird viewing platform were added to the site in 2016, as a connection with the Grimsby Waterfront Trail. Significant wildlife and habitat protection efforts have been made through the use of community partnerships. Phragmites (an invasive plant) has posed a significant threat the Grimsby Wetlands area and the Naturalists Club have undertaken work to address this issue (Town of Grimsby 2019)
