General Description

The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is located in the downtown core at 250 St. Paul St, St.Catharines ON L2R 3M9. This beautiful building won an Ontario Wood Works award in 2016 for its interior wood design. This modern 95,000 square foot performance center contains 4 venues: Partridge Hall, Robertson Theatre, Cairns Recital Hall and the Film House. This venue holds over 600 events annually and is open 7 days a week, 48 weeks a year. It houses 20 fulltime and 70 part-time staff, and hundreds of volunteers. With Marilyn I. Walker of the Fine Performance Arts located within a few steps away, Brock University has been able to utilize the space. This allows students who study the performing arts to experience an amazing venue and performance space.


Recreational Features

The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre consists of four unique theaters within this 95,000 square foot venue.

Partridge Hall won an award for its stunning woodwork, designed and executed by Diamond Schmitt Architects. This 800 seat hall is perfect for theatrical, vocal or musical performance, and has excellent acoustics.

The Film House is a theatre which exhibits new feature films, classic cinema, documentaries, family favorites, and cult classics. This theatre can hold up to 199 people and runs 500 shows a year.

The Robertson Theatre is nicknamed the "Black Box". It is a modifiable space, perfect for smaller performance due to the flexibility of the room, and it can hold up to 150 audience members.

Cairns Recital Hall is home to The Foster Festival. The Foster Festival is the first theatre festival in Canada celebrating the work of a living Canadian playwright. Playwright Norm Foster's comical shows have been performed around the world. This Recital hall is also used by students studying performing arts At Brock University. This venue can seat up to 250 people for performances.

Parking

Parking for this Venue is not available onsite. But there are over 1000 spaces for parking in various parking garages in the downtown core minutes away from the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. The Parking Garage at 71 Carlisle Street is free after 6 pm, and 5$ when events are being held. There are also drop-off points in front of the Box Office Entrance on St. Paul Street as well as the front doors closest to Partridge Hall along Carlisle Street.
