Today, the city of Niagara Falls is very different than what it used to be. However, the roaring falls that have attracted people to the region have not significantly changed since Europeans visited Niagara for the first time in the 1600's.
The Golden Age of prosperity for Niagara Falls in the 1860's was defined by acts of bravery and performances along the Niagara River that captured both local and international attention. This audio tour will take you on an adventure through the past, detailing both the heroic and tragic events that took place between the 1850's and 1920's along the Niagara River.
This tour is meant to be completed through a combination of short distance driving and walking. This tour is intended to educate and pique the interest of anyone who may be visiting Niagara, but does not know about its fascinating history. Niagara Falls is a very popular tour destination to people from all areas of the globe, but so many pass through without realizing the incredible history it holds.
Th starting point of this tour will be the Whirlpool Aeorcar, the best view point to see the startling class six rapids within the Niagara Gorge. From there you will be instructed to drive to the River Road lookout point, park at Bird Kingdom then walk to Rambler's Rest, the Horseshoe Falls and finally end at the Old Scow lookout point.
