Welcome to Queens Royal Park!
Queens Royal Park is a grassy area commanding the bank of the Niagara River emptying into Lake Ontario. Across the water, you can look at historic Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York, and at the silhouette of Toronto's skyline in the distance on clear days. The park is a small, open area of maintained grassland with walkways and tree cover, just a short walk from Niagara-on-the-Lake's town centre. The park is great for walkers and families to come and take in the views or just relax. It's always open and there are picnic tables, washrooms and a parking lot to cover basic amenities.
The park has drastically increased in popularity as the town centre continues to expand. No feature of the park is more popular than the white gazebo that was put in the area in 1983 for the Christopher Walken film, "The Dead Zone". The park is accessible using the entrance off of Front Street, as the entrance on King Street / Ricardo Street has several steps, grassy patches, and sand before reaching the shore.
Queens Royal Park is popular for the aesthetically pleasing backdrop of Lake Ontario, and the shoreline. There are several amenities available for visitors to use while in the park.
Free public washrooms - Available year round, located to the West of the beach area on Front Street.
Outdoor walking trail - A paved pathway overlooking Lake Ontario. Sit on the rocky shore for the sunset, or just to listen the calming sounds of waves lapping against land.
Picnic tables - Several benches and picnic tables are available for visitors in the grassy area of the park. Garbage bins are located throughout the perimeter of the park area to keep the land clean.
Corks Winebar & Eatery - 19 Queen Street, fish n' chip joint with outdoor seating, selections of local wines also available. (5-minute-walk from the Park)
Old Town Goodies - 29 Queen Street, tiny shop with eight flavours of ice cream, coffee, cappuccinos, lattes and tea by the cup and panini sandwiches. (5-minute-walk from the Park)
