The Leisure Activity of Region includes all of the sports arenas, buildings and facilities surrounding the southernmost pond on campus. This area also runs parallel with the Chow Maneewong Stadium (west side). This particular region of the campus is home to many of the main sporting and activity facilities. In the evenings when the sun goes down and classes come to an end, students from all faculties come to this area of the campus to exercise, socialize and be active. Within this general region there are a number of different activities you can partake in on any given day.


What is there to do here?

All facilities included in the leisure activity region include;

  • A public swimming pool (10 baht student and 20 baht general fee)
  • An indoor volleyball court
  • Three covered courts used for volleyball, badminton, and sepak takraw
  • A basketball court
  • A hard top soccer court
  • Four adjoined tennis courts
  • Various specialty buildings (may come at a cost to join classes/ teams)
  • Various permanent outdoor exercise equipment
  • A small utilities building that rents out sports equipment (small fee per item)


When is the best time to go?

When deciding the best time to visit the leisure activity region of campus, it it important to first assess why are you are going.


The Swimming Pool is open daily 4:30pm- 8:30pm (closed on holidays)


The indoor volleyball stadium (east of the pond, parallel to Chow Maneewong stadium) is often being used by university and local level teams for practicing and/or playing games. Often times these games will draw crowds of students into the stadium, in which case you are able to enjoy the pleasure of watching an action packed game of volleyball.

If you wish to participate in a game of volleyball on your own, or with friends, there are other courts (also commonly used for badminton and sepak takraw) located a few meters north of the indoor stadium, it too is covered overhead. Again, just north of these courts are 4 tennis courts available daily for personal use. In addition, located just south of the swimming pool there is a large basketball court open to the public, daily.


If you are looking for a spot to hang out after class, this particular activity region is a student hot spot on campus. Sunday through Friday after 6pm (or approximately around sunset) hundreds of students come outside to jog, stretch, exercise and socialize.

Located near the indoor volleyball courts in a small building that rents out various types of sports equipment including; weighted hula hoops, skipping ropes, basketballs, volleyballs, sepak takraw balls, tennis balls, badminton birdies,


If you are looking for a quaint and quiet spot during the day to study, meditate, read a book or just relax there are may spots along the pond for that as well. The pond has many small gazebos and covered seating areas situated along the main path and sidewalk in this area, which are very peaceful during the day.

This particular pond is also home to many fish and turtles! If you find yourself around the pond during the day, you may see local children or students throwing bread into the water and watching the animals jump around.
