Niagara Local Food Co-operative

General Information

If you would like to feel closer to the land and get to know your neighbouring farmers, supporting the new Niagara Local Food Co-operative might be right up your alley. By joining this co-op you will be helping to create a local food system that stays within a 100 mile radius.

As a consumer, you will know exactly who produces your food, where it is grown or raised, and the production practices used by the farmers. You will also have the ability to order from a specific producer.

As a farmer, grower or producer, you will be connected with consumers who value quality products, healthy local economies, and acknowledge fair trade practices.

The co-op brings agricultural producers and consumers together in a virtual farmers market. Farmers post their produce and products online and you order online at your convenience.

Twice a month, (since November 2008), producer/farmer members bring their orders to a designated distribution point where the goods are sorted into the various consumer orders. Consumers will then come later that same day, between specified hours, and pick up their order which will be waiting for them - you!

In the coming months satelite pickup sites will be added once the locations of higher consumer participation are determined. But for now the only pickup spot is at Trinity United Church in Thorold who were interested enough to partner with the co-operative.

Hours of Operation

You must be a member and pre-order before pickup is possible. Once you have joined you will be given a schedule.
