De Sousa Wine Cellars

General Information

This special winery was a dream in 1979 when the De Sousa family purchased their property deep in the Beamsville Bench. Their wines have been given the utmost devotion, which spawned a unique taste only the old world Portuguese tradition combined with new world techniques could create. Unique to De Sousa Wine Cellars is the wonderful taste sensation you'll experience when savoring red wine in a Portuguese clay cup. This is the only Portuguese style winery in the Niagara Region and offers a one of a kind product.

The modern two-storey winery also honours the familys Portuguese heritage with its distinctive design. Its flat red roofline and wrought-iron balconies lend this white villa a Southern-European flair, which is also carried through to the winery's boutique and tasting room.

Diamond Estates recently purchased this family winery. The son of the founders, John De Sousa, is carrying on as the Operations Manager and Winemaker.
