Hare House

General Information

"A charming late Victorian house, circa 1890, this home underwent some careful modifications in 1987. It has some unique history: in the 1950s a congregation of the Eastern Orthodox Rite owned the house. It was said that the congregation sold the house because the township would not allow them to turn the property adjacent to the house into a cemetery.

The house was recently owned by a direct descendant of Captain Peter Hare Sr., who is buried close by in the Snure cemetery on the South Side of King Street/Regional Road 81."
